SYLVIA ESCOBAR

STEM EDUCATION SPECIALIST

Sylvia was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from PSJA Upper Level High School and received a BS in Biology from Trinity University, MS in Computer Science and MEd in Educational Leadership both from the University of Texas – Pan American. Serving fifteen years in education, Sylvia has taught math, technology and engineering and been a campus administrator focusing on STEM and early college initiatives. She is currently a Learning Resources Integration / STEM Specialist at the Region One Education Service Center. Sylvia’s passion lies in computer programming and gaming and in bridging these areas of computer science into classroom instruction in order to motivate students and foster computational thinking. Her hobbies include gaming (World of Warcraft), jewelry making, and playing with her dogs. Favorite Superheroes: Batgirl and Joe Resendez, Sr. (PSJA).
